As a Southerner, I have had dozens, maybe hundreds of servings of pecan pies, most made by my Mom. The one from Potter’s was the best, however.

I agree with Jacob. I grew up in pecan-rich North east Louisiana and on my Mom’s ever present pecan pies. I hope she does not rollover in her grave when I say that Potter’s pecan pies are the best I have ever had. Part of their secret is to have two layers of pecans: a lower level of chopped pecans topped by whole pecan halves. The quality of the pecans (and filling and crust) is first rate.
